The PGA Tour has released a statement regarding the latest round of talks with the PIF – and the majority of golf fans aren’t happy.
The Tour’s Transaction Committee – including Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy – held talks with the Saudis in New York City two weeks ago [McIlroy remotely].
Over a year has passed since the bombshell framework agreement was reached between the two parties. However, with several deadlines passing, there’s still little idea of what the eventual deal will look like.
The latest twist comes after the PGA Tour released a memo to players confirming talks with the Public Investment Fund are ongoing and that there’s “still work to do”.
And with no resolution in sight, it’s fair to say golf fans are less than impressed.
Golf fans react to latest PIF – PGA Tour twist

In reaction to the latest PGA Tour memo, most golf fans are getting tired of the same statements seemingly being repeated over and over again.
One fan said: “I think they just change the date on these meeting minutes and keep issuing the same notes.” While another added: “So the stages of this “agreement” went framework>outline>definitive.”
This fan suggested that the PGA Tour is pulling the wool over fans’ eyes with the saga set to rumble on.
“They are pulling the wool over our eyes and certainly over the eyes of their constituents,” they wrote. “This a total farce.”
Finally, another comment suggested the two parties are nowhere near an agreement.
“They are no place close, but at least they understand this needs to happen,” they wrote.
It’s hard to disagree with fan opinion on this one
It’s hard to disagree with any of the fan sentiment on this issue.
There have been multiple occasions where the PGA Tour have reportedly entered into further discussions with the PIF, and the same outcome always seems to ensue.
‘We are getting there’, ‘talks have been positive’, and ‘way to go’ all seem to be the go-to quotes in recent times.
Genuine leadership is now required in order for an agreement to be reached and for continuity to return.
The US Open at Pinehurst is a gentle reminder that the world’s best players need to be playing regularly in the best events, a scenario fans around the world are currently being starved of.
