Taylor Pendrith won the Byron Nelson this weekend but PGA player Michael Kim was left impressed with another player in the field.

Pendrith won out in what was a closely fought contest on the final day, with the top five players separated by just three shots at the end.

The Canadian’s winning score of -23 was enough to see off the likes of Ben Kohles, Alex Noren, Matt Wallace and An Byeong-hun.

However, while it was left to Pendrith to win the trophy and take the winner’s cheque, another player in the field, Michael Kim, was left more impressed by the aforementioned Noren.

Why Michael Kim was so impressed by Alex Noren this weekend

Taking to social media over on X in one of his now regular posts on the platform, Kim admitted that Noren’s swing fascinates him.

“Alex Noren doesn’t slice it nearly as much as his practice swings make it look haha. His ball position is pretty far up in his stance which makes his swing direction even more left but I imagine that he also has a lot of wrist angles and dragging of the club to offset that,” Kim wrote.

“It’s an interesting move but man he’s good. Also because of his unique move, he puts a TON of spin on his short game shots. You will spin it more if you slice it but it’ll also spin more right once it gets on the green and also potential to get too steep but he’s got that stuff dialled.”

Alex Noren one of the smoothest around

Those who follow YouTube golf will know that the popular Peter Finch has labelled Noren as being his ‘swing crush’ and it’s easy to see why.

Noren seems to play the game with an effortlessness few players have and he was unlucky to not win this weekend as Pendrith just got over the line.

The experienced Noren – now 41 – has had quite the career so but quite amazingly, he’s yet to win on the PGA Tour and has only come best placed sixth in the Majors.

However, with the sort of form he showed this weekend at the Byron Nelson and with his game ‘dialled in’ as Kim says, that win can’t be too far away.

Indeed, with Scottie Scheffler not playing in this weekend’s Wells Fargo, Noren and a host of others will fancy their chances.
