2026 TGL season suffers major ratings drop from 2025
His absence has coincided with a very worrying update at this year’s competition, with TGL suffering a major ratings decline over its first two weeks.
Week one of TGL 2026 experienced a decrease from 2025 of almost 30%, falling from 919k on ESPN to 646k on ABC.
Week two meanwhile suffered a huge drop of almost 65%, falling from 1.05m on ESPN to just 354k on ESPN 2, with Woods having appeared at that stage last time out.
It’s certainly not an ideal start to season two for TGL, which combines virtual and real-life short-game play at Florida’s SoFi Center.
Three weeks of the 2026 TGL season have now taken place, with the action set to continue until late March.
LPGA Tour stars to feature in WTGL
Soon, it won’t be only PGA Tour stars taking on the event, with LPGA Tour players set to be involved in WTGL.
The women’s edition is targeting a winter 2026/27 launch, with American superstar Lexi Thompson set to take part.
It remains to be seen how popular the competition will be, but there should be reasons for excitement given the current state of the LPGA Tour.
