Lydia Ko is currently ranked third in the women’s world rankings, two places behind world number one Nelly Korda.
Surprisingly, Korda is still yet to win on the LPGA Tour this season, after 11 starts.
Compare that with last season when she won seven times in 16 appearances.
Meanwhile, Ko has one win to her name this season, at the HSBC Women’s World Championship back in February.
Korda’s stats on the LPGA Tour this season are actually even better than the numbers she posted last year, which makes it seem farcical that she hasn’t actually won in 2025.

The world number one continues to work incredibly hard, and a win is surely only just around the corner.
What better time for her to open her 2025 account than the AIG Women’s Open next week.
Lydia Ko shares how the game has changed as she makes Nelly Korda comment
Korda is the prime example of what is needed to succeed on the LPGA Tour in the modern day, what with her prodigious length off the tee and her tunnel-visioned winning mentality.
Korda has suffered with niggling injuries this season, so that may well be why she is still without a win.
To succeed in the women’s game now, explosive power is a must, rather than just a bonus.
Ko has opened up on just how much the game has changed during her time out on the LPGA Tour.
“The technology is huge. I am unsure how good a golfer I would be with Balata balls and Persimmon drivers but all of those definitely help, but the amount of effort athletes are putting in at the gym, doing work with their mental coaches and their swing coaches.
“It used to be more like how do I get my swing to a certain point and then it was just trying to play the best golf I can.

“I think it has just become more of a huge team and athletes are putting more time into different aspects of their game and I think that’s why it’s been so impressive.
“Just because you are a rookie, you really can’t count them out. It’s hard, even though I’m not old, but I have been around for 12 years and I feel like this is the third generation I have been in and just to see how much the game has grown and how difficult it is to actually win.
“That’s why the year that Nelly had – I had an amazing year – but the year she had last year was just unreal.
“It is pretty cool to see and it keeps us on our toes. That is why I am still out here practicing, trying to hit my nice butter cuts! It’s such an amazing sport, you can really do this for as long as you want as long as you’re healthy.
“So I think you can take advantage of that and I honestly don’t know how long I am going to be around for but I think it’s something that is always going to be a big part of me.“
2025 LPGA Tour stats: Nelly Korda vs Lydia Ko
It’s very interesting to see how the two players’ stats match up against each other on the LPGA Tour in 2025.
| Stats | Korda’s ranking | Ko’s ranking |
| Strokes gained off the tee | 1st | 111th |
| Strokes gained approach | 12th | 31st |
| Strokes gained around the green | 81st | 3rd |
| Strokes gained putting | 28th | 13th |
| Strokes gained total | 2nd | 7th |
Looking at those stats, perhaps the reason why Korda hasn’t won this season is that her chipping and pitching hasn’t been anywhere near the levels it needs to be to succeed.
If the 26-year-old manages to sharpen up her work around the green, a win will be just around the corner.
Ko is clearly a huge fan of Korda, and it’s little wonder as to why, given her incredible talent.
