Ludvig Aberg clearly learned a lot from playing alongside Rory McIlroy at The Masters last week.

The Swede was challenging at Augusta right up until his triple bogey seven on the final hole on Sunday.

Ludvig Aberg seems to have a game that’s tailor made for Augusta National, and he will surely end his career as a Masters champion.

The PGA Tour star has all the attributes required to win a green jacket, and he clearly loves the place as well.

Many people tipped him to win at Augusta, but it was Rory McIlroy who emerged victorious in the end.

Ludvig Aberg admits what he must improve after playing with Rory McIlroy at The Masters

The eyes of the golfing world were fixated on the back nine at Augusta on Sunday.

McIlroy finally completed the Grand Slam with his win at The Masters, but he certainly didn’t do it the easy way.

That said, there are numerous facets of McIlroy’s game where he is far and away the best in the world, when he’s on top form of course.

The Northern Irishman’s superpower is his driving. His enormous length off the tee combined with impressive accuracy allows him to overpower golf courses.

And Aberg admitted that McIlroy’s length was something that made him feel rather inadequate around Augusta National.

The Swede responded when asked if more speed is something he is chasing:

Yeah, I think so. I think if you want to stay competitive and stay injury-free, you need to take care of those things. Just looking at — I played two rounds with Rory last week and he sends it, and you feel, how can he not beat me every tournament almost when he’s playing from 30 yards ahead.

Yeah, there’s definitely that motivational tool in terms of getting stronger and faster. I don’t think you should rush it, either. But definitely sort of a long-term thing over the next couple years would be something I’d like to improve on.

Ludvig Aberg driving stats

The Swede is already an incredible driver of the ball.

He’s 30th in driving distance this season, with an average of 307.7 yards off the tee.

Aberg is also ranked 29th in average club-head speed with a very impressive 120.13mph (PGA Tour website).

Meanwhile, Rory is third in driving distance with an average of 317.5 yards and he’s eighth in the club-head speed standings with 123.5mph.

So whilst Ludvig Aberg is one of the best drivers in the game, it’s clear to see that Rory McIlroy is still streets ahead of him.
