Lucas Glover rates his chances of making the US Ryder Cup team after shooting a final round 64 at the John Deere Classic

The John Deere Classic is in the books for another year and Lucas Glover was one of a number of players to impress over the week.

Glover has always been a consistent player on the PGA Tour and like the winner Brian Campbell, is one of the names who many consider to not be among the ‘elite’ in the game.

Nevertheless, Glover carded a superb final round 64 to finish at 16-under for the tournament a T5 position.

The American is never shy of an opinion either and Glover has recently spoken outwardly towards the LIV players in his latest rant.

Now, after doing so well in round four of the John Deere, Glover has assessed his own chances of making Keegan Bradley’s Ryder Cup squad.

At 45-years-old, Lucas Glover would very much be one of the elder statesmen on what is proving to be quite a young US Ryder Cup team so far.

However, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t harbour ambitions of getting the nod from Bradley or even making the top six.

Indeed, with the Open coming up soon, Glover has a big chance to make an impression and he’s admitted that a Ryder Cup spot is very much on his mind.

“Yeah, of course. Always,” Glover quipped when asked if he had thought about being picked.

“I showed it in ’23. All it takes is a good stretch and get some confidence and pop off a win or two. I love the course for The Open Championship, Portrush. I was there last time. Obviously got success at Wyndham, success at Memphis. So yeah, I’m excited for what the year has left.”

With six PGA Tour wins in his career and four top 10s in 2025, Glover will need to convert his form into at least one win before Bradley makes his decision.

From then, Glover will know he’s done his utmost and will have no cards left on the table if he’s not selected.

Lucas Glover might have left it too late to make Team USA

It’s not out of the realms of possibility that Lucas Glover makes the team, far from it.

Prior to the John Deere, he was in 20th on the USA rankings and very much in the conversation for those six players Bradley might select.

However, there is also a feeling of it might be too little too late. Glover really needs to get a win or two to shoot him up the rankings further and give himself the best chance.

There are some big names in front of him, such as Tony Finau, Patrick Cantlay and Sam Burns, all who have previous Ryder Cup experience.

As it stands, it’s probably all a bit too much for Glover to get there, unless he can produce a remarkable run.
