Su-Ann Heng has shared the two-word reaction from Jon Rahm after the Spaniard saw the leaderboard and the lead Abraham Ancer had built up after round two of LIV Golf’s Hong Kong event.

Abraham Ancer looks to be in with a fantastic chance of securing his first LIV Golf win on Sunday. The 33-year-old went into the second round tied for the lead after opening up with a -7 63.

The top 10 were all within two shots of the summit after the first round. But Ancer left everyone else behind on day two.

And it seems that his performance surprised Jon Rahm as the Spaniard stepped onto his final tee box of the day. LIV reporter Su-Ann Heng shared on their broadcast (9/3; 8:42) that Rahm was somewhat stopped in his tracks when he saw Ancer’s score.

“I was walking up with Jon. He was looking at that leaderboard just to the left of this tee box, and he said, ‘wow, Abe!’. That was my reaction too when I saw that leaderboard,” she said.

Mexican on cusp of first LIV win

Ancer is yet to make a mistake this week, not making a single bogey so far. And it would be a shock if he did not go on and win from here.

Tyrrell Hatton spoke of not liking LIV’s shotgun start this week. And perhaps this is one occasion where it is not particularly helpful in building the tension.

No-one has the opportunity to go out and put a little pressure on before Ancer hits the course. The likes of Cameron Smith and Jon Rahm are six off the lead right now. And in a traditional event, they would be looking to make a couple of early birdies to send a message to the leader.

As it is, Ancer is arguably in an even more comfortable position than it initially appears.
