Tyrrell Hatton has shared one aspect of playing on LIV Golf that he really does not like right now after making the jump to the tour ahead of this season.

Tyrrell Hatton was one of the big names to make the move across this year. Hatton signed a £50 million deal to join LIV, with the Englishman becoming part of Jon Rahm‘s Legion XIII team.

It proved to be a brilliant start for the 32-year-old. An eight-under final round was the best score of the day as Hatton helped Legion XIII win the team competition on their debut in Mayakoba.

It was a big coup for LIV to sign the 32-year-old. He is one of those players who is always going to be backed to be in contention in the major championships. And obviously, he was part of the Ryder Cup team in Rome last year.

So it was a big statement about what the players think of what LIV offers. But not everything the tour do appeals to Hatton.

Speaking on Fairway to Heaven, he noted that he is not a fan of all of the players starting their rounds at exactly the same time.

“It’s a bit different. If I’m honest, I’m not in love with the shotgun start. I like the idea of everyone being on the golf course at the same time. And I think that would still be achievable with a two-tee start,” he said.

“The warm-up situation’s hard. And ultimately, you want to have a nice warm-up, do your routine and get to the tee as and when you want. When I say that, if I’m teeing off the first or the 10th, I will be walking onto the tee three minutes before I’m due to go. So I’ll get to the putting green just shy of 10 minutes before so I’ve pretty much come straight off the range, hit putts for five minutes and straight onto the tee.

“With a shotgun start, you have to leave 20 minutes before your tee time to get out, could be the furthest point on the golf course. So I’m not in love with that side of it. Maybe it’s just learning to deal with it because it’s new experiences. We’ll see what happens.”

Breakaway tour attempting to offer something very different

LIV have tried to sell themselves as something different to the PGA Tour and DP World Tour. Their events are over 54 holes and there is no cut. And there are smaller fields.

The team competition is also something they try to build up. It is probably yet to attract the amount of attention they would like. But there is clearly a lot of potential in the format.

There is something appealing for fans in knowing that you are not going to have to watch golf all day to see all of your favourite players. But clearly, it is not something which appeals to all of the players.
