LIV Golf are finding themselves in the headlines once again ahead of their 2025 season teeing off but this time it looks like they’ve scored a bit of a win with their latest move.

LIV haven’t quite managed to sign the superstar players of the last few years in the off-season but they’ve still captured the attention of golf fans nonetheless.

The biggest move they’ve made is signing YouTube star Rick Shiels in a move which has stunned many.

However, they’re continuing to make plays outside of their main golf product as well and after signing a TV deal with FOX, LIV have now moved to bolster their punditry team by adding former player, Pat Perez, to the booth.

Golf fans react as LIV Golf add Pat Perez to broadcasting team

Pat Perez was one of the LIV Golf originals as he signed on from the get-go to help get LIV off the ground.

However, he never quite delivered as part of the 4Aces with Dustin Johnson and this year, he’s been replaced by former Ryder Cup player, Thomas Pieters.

Still, Perez is a popular enough player and his personality away from playing golf has often made him a very likeable character.

And after agreeing to step into the booth, golf fans on X believe that it’s a win-win for everyone.

One fan labelled the move as ‘awesome’ as he praised Perez.

While another fan also backed that comment up, suggesting the decision was a ‘win’ for everyone.

“That’s a win for both parties well done!”

Another fan predicted entertainment due to Perez’s personality.

“He has a fun personality, so this should be very entertaining”

While another golf watcher suggested Perez might have lost his golf game a bit but remains an intriguing character.

“This is a good idea. Pat has lost his game but he is a good listen.”

Indeed, the praise kept coming as well, with another LIV fan loving the addition of Perez.

“Great news. Pat is always a fun listen. With the shotgun start, there’s plenty of room for someone to join Dom and Su-Ann on the course.”

Although it wasn’t all completely positive, with one fan pointing out that LIV must be ‘getting rid’ of someone from the previous announce team.

Pat Perez’s 2024 LIV Golf season in numbers

Pat Perez was never really going to be a player on LIV Golf who won multiple events. He was very much signed as a well known name to help the brand get off the ground and he’s succeeded in that.

His 2024 stats show very much where Perez’s game is right now compared to the rest of the field.

His best finish came all the way back in February 2024 at Las Vegas, where he managed a 15th. However, in the last four events of the season, Perez only managed to finish 52nd, 42nd, 47th and T26.

Perez might well be more at home in the commentary booth and we’ve seen with the likes of Smylie Kaufman and Kevin Kisner that some players can really translate into that analyst role.
