LIV Golf lead commentator Jerry Foltz has had a close eye on the TGL during the first two game weeks of the tech-infused venture.
Initially, the TGL was conceived as the PGA Tour’s response to LIV. Yet, after numerous setbacks, the indoor league has only recently opened its doors.
So far, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s project has received mixed reviews. Many have been impressed with the innovative technology, while some fans believe a close TGL match is now required.
LIV Golf executives were present at the SoFi Centre on opening night, indicating that those in leadership positions within the breakaway league are interested in TGL’s performance.
Jerry Foltz drops TGL verdict after watching two matches

Foltz, the main voice of LIV, has expressed his views on the opening fixtures and is pleased with what he’s watched so far.
“It was kind of cool. I get to watch golf. Tiger was playing. Kevin Kisner evidently plays golf as a hobby now as he was pretty much awful on Tiger’s team,” he explained.
“It was an absolute steamrolling, but it was pretty fun to watch. The crowd is pretty cool there. It’s an intimate arena. It looked pretty full, not completely. It was just nice, brain-dead viewing, watching something you look and guys having a good time. I am a fan. It was fun.”

TGL certainly has potential despite an up-and-down start
Despite an up-and-down start, the TGL certainly has the potential to be an engaging feature on prime-time TV.
The opening viewing figures were promising, and with Woods and McIlroy in action in game week four, more fans are set to tune in.

What is abundantly clear is that competitiveness is required in the upcoming fixtures. So far, the likes of Woods, Kisner, Max Homa and Xander Schauffele have had to provide entertainment with matches dead and buried before the singles.
If Boston Common Golf Club’s match against Jupiter Links goes down to the wire, the golfing world will begin to see the TGL at its best.
Next is New York Golf Club vs. Atlanta Drive Golf Club, before McIlroy starts his TGL season five days later.
