Kevin Na has got to know Bryson DeChambeau really well over the last few years during their time together on LIV Golf.

DeChambeau is the biggest star on LIV, and he is one of the biggest in the entire game as well.

Na might not be quite as box-office as the 31-year-old American, but he has a very impressive record in the game, with nine professional wins to his name including five PGA Tour victories.

DeChambeau will be on the US Ryder Cup team at Bethpage Black next month, and it’s farcical really that he wasn’t on the team in Rome in 2023.

Keegan Bradley has already confirmed that DeChambeau will be part of the US Ryder Cup team, and he will be a huge asset for the Americans.

The two-time US Open champion has been in fine form this season, although he hasn’t won as many times as he would have liked.

DeChambeau is an incredibly popular figure in the game these days, but it certainly hasn’t always been that way.

Kevin Na shares what he thought of Bryson DeChambeau when he first met him

DeChambeau was a hugely divisive character when he burst onto the scene eight years ago.

Some people loved his scientific approach to professional golf while others suggested that he had a negative impact on the game.

Na has been speaking to reporters about the two-time major winner, and lifted the lid on whether he was a fan of his fellow LIV golfer when he first met him.

He said: I always joke to him and say I was nice to you before you became a big star and before you were likeable!

I have always liked him from day one. I remember talking to him before, when he wasn’t playing so well, and he was doing the side straddle and I would come talk to him on the putting green and what his theories were.

I played with him in a QBE team-play shoot out in 2017 or 2018. We teamed up and finished third and I got to know him pretty well then. How he played the game and all these calculations that he made. It was fascinating.

He would calculate putts off the green at what the fairways were running at stimp and then from the green on and how many feet that is at stimp and with the slope. He would then say that this putt is playing 47 feet and he would hit it at perfect speed or make it. It was incredible.

But I think people got to know him and watch him mature and grow up. He became this likeable, interesting character and we need more characters like that in the golf game.

Whether you like him or not, and I think most people do like him, he is an interesting guy and what he has done with his body and his game. The transformation that he has gone through, it’s incredible. He is an incredibly talented player.

Bryson DeChambeau’s record on LIV in 2025

DeChambeau has been really solid in 2025, but one win is simply not enough for a player of his calibre.

DeChambeau will be hoping to finish the 2025 LIV season with a flourish before the hard work really begins for him in the off-season.

The American will be hoping to add one or two majors to his tally next year and the only way for him to do that will be to improve upon the one big weakness in his game before the start of the 2026 season – his iron play.
