A big conundrum lies in wait for Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley.
Bradley won the Travelers Championship on Sunday and he now sits inside the top 10 of the U.S. Ryder Cup points list.
All the rumours suggest that Bradley will be a playing member of the U.S. Ryder Cup team at Bethpage Black in September.
The bottom line is that he deserves to be on the team. The 39-year-old has played some truly superb golf this season, and it’s hard to envisage a scenario with him not teeing it up at Bethpage.
It is strange that the PGA of America selected someone who isn’t even in his forties yet.
That said, the PGA of America apparently wanted to move away from appointing experienced Ryder Cup captains.
That’s because they wanted a leader who is involved with playing on the PGA Tour on a week-to-week basis.
The problem is that Bradley has been playing so well that he has now given not only the PGA of America a decision to make, but himself as well.

Bradley has five top-10 finishes to his name in 2025, including one win.
He’s inside the top 10 of both the Official Golf World Rankings and the Data Golf Rankings.
It could actually be argued that he is the second best American golfer right now as far as consistency goes, behind only Scottie Scheffler.
And when speaking to SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio, Bradley’s longtime caddie – Scott Vail – made a big claim about his boss.
He said: “It’s the best I’ve ever seen him play, without a doubt, and I have been saying this for months. I can’t even put into words sometimes how impressive he is. What a golfer he is. He was struggling with his short game last year, and it was probably a weak spot. Now, around the greens he is top 15 or top-20 I believe in strokes gained around the greens. I mean, he’s hitting the ball unbelievable, driving the ball incredibly well. I have been saying that for a while, me, his coach, everybody in the team. And he feels like this is the best he’s ever hit it.“
Vail has caddied for Bradley since 2017, and they share one of the closest player/caddie relationships on the PGA Tour.

Bradley has been steadfast in his stance on potentially picking himself for the Ryder Cup.
If he fails to finish inside the top six and qualify automatically for the team, could he really name himself as a captain’s pick?
I mean, he definitely should pick himself, but what has he said about the matter?
Bradley has always insisted that he would never name himself as one of the six captain’s picks for the Ryder Cup.
However, if he finishes inside the top 10, it will be impossible for Bradley to leave himself out of his own Ryder Cup team won’t it?
One thing’s for sure, a big dilemma awaits the man from Vermont.
