Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley has hinted at a potential rule change coming into place for when the USA’s points-earning possibilities begin in January.
PGA players can earn points from the start of 2025 due to their participation in regular tour events. LIV Golf stars, however, cannot.
Bradley has welcomed the idea of LIV players returning to the PGA Tour. The 38-year-old has claimed he will pick the best 12-man team for the Bethpage Black event, regardless of where they play their golf.
Now, the 2024 BMW Championship winner has said discussions will take place to address the “weird” LIV Golf situation.

Speaking in the immediate aftermath of his victory in the PGA Tour’s second playoff event, Bradley revealed he’s happy with the current qualification system.
“We’ve gotten into it a little bit. I don’t see there being in the tweaks,” Bradley said. “I think the system — to finish in the top six is really difficult. I don’t think that — those always identify the best six, I think, on the U.S. side.”
Bradley, however, admitted that changes are needed to figure out the “weird” LIV Golf issue.
“The only weird area is the LIV guys, what they do and where they fall on the list,” Bradley added. “We’re going to have to really get with the captains, get with the team that’s going to be there and figure that out. But I think the system works. I haven’t heard from anyone, any previous captains, or any way they would change it. But we’ll look into it.”
The 2025 USA captain then reiterated his desire to select the 12 best players. “Yeah. I’m going to have the best 12 players, so the PGA of America, they — we’re going to have the 12 best players, so they need to figure that out if that’s their problem,” Bradley added.
“I know you have to be a PGA member to play in the Ryder Cup. That’s the only stipulation that you need. So we’ll make sure if some of those guys that we think might make the team, we’ll make sure that they are a member.”
LIV Golf stars love Keegan Bradley’s Ryder Cup appointment
Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau loved Bradley’s Ryder Cup appointment, and with good reason.
Bradley appears eager to incorporate LIV Golf stars into his plans, which could offer DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, and Patrick Reed a relatively easy route back to the team.
To date, Koepka is the only LIV Golf player to feature at a Ryder Cup after he was selected by Zach Johnson back for the Rome event in 2023.
Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton competed for Europe just months before they opted to quit the PGA Tour and head to Greg Norman’s venture.
As the 2025 Ryder Cup approaches, several huge decisions need to be made on either side regarding the LIV tour contingent.
