Keegan Bradley is firmly in the mix at The Travelers Championship and at just three back of Tommy Fleetwood, is in prime position for a big Sunday.
The US Ryder Cup captain is very much in danger of playing himself into his own Ryder Cup team, which in turn will create a conundrum for him to deal with.
Still, you cannot blame Bradley for going all out to win golf tournaments and right now, he’s very much the man who could stop Tommy Fleetwood getting his first PGA Tour win.
For Bradley, the idea of being a playing captain for Team USA has come up so often and if he keeps landing results like this in big events, he’ll be forcing a big decision on himself.
Bradley’s game is very much in the top 15 in America but even he’s admitted that what happened to him in round three at The Travelers is completely unusual.

Keegan Bradley shocked by his third round performance at The Travelers
Keegan Bradley has always been so honest about his game but when he’s on it, he’s very much one of the best players in the world.
Bradley is firmly in contention behind Fleetwood and he’ll need all the dominoes to fall in order to get another win under his belt.
Indeed, he’s admitted that for whatever reason, his game suddenly fell into place in round three.
“Yeah, today was just one of those days when everything feels great. I hit the ball good, putted great, felt comfortable all day, which is rare. I felt really, really great out there,” Bradley.
Asked just how rare that sort of performance was, Bradley admitted it was a stark contrast to round two.
“Ridiculous. I mean, yesterday I went out there and I was uncomfortable on every shot I hit. I don’t know why. Even just like easy shots, easy chips, easy putts. Then today I felt really comfortable on every shot. That doesn’t happen often.”
Keegan Bradley might need to relinquish the Ryder Cup leadership
There is a very realistic chance that Keegan Bradley ends up playing himself into his own Ryder Cup team and while that’s some achievement, it opens up a big can of worms for Team USA.
Being a playing captain is possible but for the USA to have the best chance to win, they need a skipper who doesn’t need the idea of playing as well.
Bradley has always been open and honest about his plans but there is now a genuine question to be asked on if he needs to decide in the coming weeks if he plays or not.
Sure enough, he might decide to do both roles.
But that simply plays into Team Europe’s hands and that’s exactly what the US Team don’t need.
