Justin Thomas is looking to land a hat trick of PGA Championship titles as the second major of 2024 comes into view.

It’s been an up-and-down start to the year for the 30-year-old, having missed the cut at The Masters and The Players Championship.

Things improved slightly last week at Harbour Town, where the American tied fifth behind eventual winner Scottie Scheffler, who landed his fourth title in five starts.

Ahead of next month’s second major, all eyes will be on whether anyone can stand in the way of the two-time Masters champion.

Justin Thomas lauds underrated PGA Championship course

Thomas has never been shy about letting the world know his thoughts, and he was arguably the star of Netflix’s hit series, ‘Full Swing’.

And now, the 30-year-old has been talking on YouTube Channel ‘The Smylie Show’.

This year’s PGA Championship takes place in his home town of Louisville at Valhalla, and Thomas heaped praise on the venue.

“It [Valhalla] doesn’t get enough credit as it deserves,” he said.

“Look at the tournaments it’s produced, it’s insane. You had Kenny Perry in 96, and then any golf fan knows the Tiger Bob May situation. It’s produced some unbelievable golf tournaments.

“It really has. Then, Rory won in the last second of daylight against Phil and Rick. You can say what you want about the course, but it has honestly given some great PGA Championships, and hopefully, it will do the same this year.”

Valhalla is an excellent chance for Justin Thomas to return to form

Since winning his second PGA Championship in 2022, things haven’t been plane sailing for Thomas. His well-documented 2023 struggles saw him squeeze onto the US Ryder Cup team thanks to a pick from long-term friend Zach Johnson.

Thomas is addicted to improving and trying to get back to his former glory, but there’s an argument to suggest he’s putting too much pressure on himself. And a PGA Championship in his home town could see expectation get the better of him once again.

Taking each shot as it comes and enjoying his trip to Valhalla should be his first goal. Once he’s relaxed and playing well, results will begin to follow.
