Scottie Scheffler is very much the main man at the Ryder Cup and Justin Thomas has been discussing if he feels the world number one is out on his own.

Scheffler is expected to lead the way for Team USA at Bethpage Black and there’s a feeling that if he plays well and gets off to a good start, then the rest could follow.

The world’s best player is hoping to do better than he did in 2023, where he was part of the team on the end of record hammering via Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg.

Given his form in 2025, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Scheffler win every match he plays.

However, when it comes to if he’s one on his own as part of Team USA and holds a certain ‘aura’ like Tiger Woods may have done, Justin Thomas is not so sure.

Justin Thomas says why he wouldn’t give Scottie Scheffler credit for having ‘aura’

Justin Thomas is set to play in his fourth Ryder Cup and he’ll be hoping to make it level after being on the losing side both in France and Italy in recent times.

Thomas is actually one of the more experienced heads now in Team USA and he’ll be expected to lead by example.

However, when it comes to giving Scheffler credit for being the main man, Thomas admitted he’d find it hard given how well he knows him.

“He’s definitely one of 12 when it comes to the team. I think it is very cool and unique that everybody on our team is. It’s not like Scottie gets more points for winning a match than I do or J.J. Spaun or Collin Morikawa or Xander, whatever it is,” Thomas replied when asked if Scheffler was a standout on his own.

“At the end of the day it’s just all about going and winning your point. All of us are very happy that he’s on our team this week so we don’t have to try to figure out how to beat him in an individual tournament. It’s nice that he’s on our side. No, he’s just viewed as one of the 12, and we’re all one and the same I’d say.”

Going further on the chat, Thomas was then asked if Scheffler has an aura about him.

“It’s a good question. I don’t know. He doesn’t to me, but I also feel like I know him well enough that even if he did, I wouldn’t give him that credit and let that get to his head because he’s competitive and can get chirpy enough, that that’s the last thing I need him knowing that if I did feel that way,” he continued.

“I’m sure he does to some people, and rightfully so, right?”

Scottie Scheffler can cement his legacy further by winning at Bethpage

Scheffler doesn’t need to do much in the game really to demonstrate his quality.

He’s already a multiple-time major winner and has produced some of the most memorable golf we’ve seen in years on the PGA Tour.

Right now, he is undoubtedly the best player in the world, and by some distance.

However, winning a Ryder Cup and being the main driving force behind that win is something that will cement his legacy further. It will be something that drives Scheffler and if he can do it after the 2024 and 2025 seasons he’s had, it will be another spectacular achievement.

Right now, Team Europe know they face a tough test but if they come up against an in-form Scottie Scheffler, it could be game over before we even get going on Sunday.
