Justin Thomas will be teeing it up in both The Masters and the Ryder Cup this year.
The Masters will kick off next week, with the entire golfing world salivating in anticipation for the best golfers in the planet to return to the rolling hills of Augusta National.
Justin Thomas will be there of course, in search of his third major championship, and his first green jacket.
The American will also be at Bethpage Black for the 2025 Ryder Cup, as he and his teammates look to wrestle back the trophy from the Europeans.
The Masters and the Ryder Cup are two of the most exciting golfing events for fans to watch, both live in person and on their television screens.
Justin Thomas will be desperate to succeed in both, and has already been getting the juices flowing ahead of The Masters.
The 31-year-old has shown some very impressive form this season, and nearly broke his winless run with a runner-up finish at the Valspar Championship in Tampa a couple of weeks back.
His game will need to be in tip-top shape if he is to contend at Augusta next week.
The difficulty levels around the greens on arguably the most famous course in world golf will punish you if you’re not on your game.
Justin Thomas highlighted Tiger Woods’ ‘insane’ chip-in on the 16th back in 2005 as one of the best shots he’s ever seen at Augusta National.
And he will need to show similar qualities if he is to have any chance of picking up his first green jacket.
Will his nerves hold up to the challenge though?
Justin Thomas shares when he’s more nervous – The Masters or Ryder Cup
Thomas is a fierce competitor, and has performed and succeeded at some of the biggest golfing events worldwide.
So when it was put to him on the Throwbacks podcast which event makes him more nervous out of The Masters and The Ryder Cup, golf fans eagerly awaited his response.
Thomas said it wasn’t even close though, and answered without hesitation:
“As a sports fan you have to go. Truly, you have to go. The amount of people. The nerves! The first tee shot of my first Ryder Cup in France was the most nervous I have ever been in my life. I always say because I hit five wood off the tee, because when I hit it off the tee I don’t actually use a tee, I put a dent in the ground and put it on top of that. If I had to use a tee I don’t think I could have got the ball on the tee. We were walking to the tee and Jordan and I did not know who was going to go first and I was like hey I need to go. He was like whatever. He had been through that and he knew that. That was why he was a great partner. For many reasons but why he was great for me that time was because he knew how nervous I was and he was like you get it go ahead. I was like please I need to hit and get off this tee right now.
“It’s not even close. The Ryder Cup is another level. I am getting goosebumps just talking about it. It’s cool. The emotion and getting excited, we don’t get to do that at tournaments without looking like an a——-. You don’t even realise it. It just comes out because it means so much and you are playing for so much more and these guys you don’t really want to play well all year you actually get to root for. I want Scottie to hit it close and Patrick Cantlay to make every putt. It’s nice to be on these guy’s team for a week because they are tough to beat when we are playing every week!“

What would be good to know is if he had the choice out of the two, what would he prefer to win this year, The Masters or the Ryder Cup?
There’s a good chance that he would choose the former, and most people would agree with that.
Justin Thomas wasn’t happy with Netflix’s portrayal of Ryder Cup selection
Keegan Bradley was overlooked by Zach Johnson in favour of Justin Thomas for the 2023 Ryder Cup in Italy.
But Thomas was not happy how Netflix edited the sequence of events for their ‘Full Swing’ documentary.

Thomas explained how it was somewhat of a stitch-up in his eyes, as quoted by The Mirror:
“It was tough to watch, but it’s the reality. If you compare our seasons, Keegan deserved that spot more than I did.
“It (Netflix) made it seem like it was the only captain’s pick. But there are six picks, and while several were considered locks, the final couple of spots were more up for grabs.“
Justin Thomas certainly has a point, and he will be determined to show his captain, who is ironically Bradley himself, what he’s really capable of in the Ryder Cup in New York State in September.
