It’s been quite the week for Justin Thomas and after getting back to winning ways at the RBC Heritage, the American now finds himself one of the leading players on the PGA Tour in yet another category after the opening two rounds of the Zurich Classic.
Thomas’ return to the winner’s circle was met with plenty of adulation and relief. The Ryder Cup hopeful had not won since 2022 and to get the monkey off his back felt huge.
Of course, with winning on the PGA Tour comes plenty of eyeballs on your game and going into three more majors this year, Thomas will be confident of snagging at least one.
Furthermore, part of those eyeballs on you mean more and more stats are unearthed and after Collin Morikawa missed the cut at the Zurich, Thomas now finds himself in the top three of another impressive stats column.

Justin Thomas moves into third for longest cut streaks after Collin Morikawa failure
Much like Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa is looking to overcome a lengthy period without a win and get his name back among the top players.
However, despite Morikawa playing very well of late, that hasn’t translated into the Zurich and he and partner Kurt Kitayama missed the cut.
For Morikawa, it means an end to his cuts made streak of 24 and means he now goes back to the bottom of the pile.
The knock on effect is there though and it’s now bumped Thomas up into third. Thomas has made 17 in a row, and sits behind just Xander Schauffele (61) and Scottie Scheffler (52).
As well as Morikawa, a number of other big names like Wyndham Clark, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Joel Dahmen also failed to make the grade in New Orleans.
The longest cut streaks in PGA Tour history
Unsurprisingly, it is a certain Tiger Woods who holds the record for most consecutive cuts made.
The 15-time major winner racked up an astonishing 142 cuts made in a row between 1998 and 2005 as he dominated the game before falling short at the Byron Nelson Championship.
In an interesting turn, it is Byron Nelson who is second on the list with 113 cuts made in a row, while Jack Nicklaus is the only other player in history to have over 100 in a row, with 105.
In the modern game, Xander Schauffele’s run of 61 puts him 6th all time having now overtaken Tom Kite’s 53, something Scottie Scheffler will be hoping to do in the coming weeks.
