Justin Thomas will undoubtedly have his sights set on a Team USA spot at the 2025 Ryder Cup next September.

The major tournament is a long way away, but it has hit the headlines after the hosts announced Keegan Bradley as their captain.

The decision to appoint Bradley has left many US golf fans baffled, with the six-time PGA Tour winner certainly a left-field pick.

Golfing legend Tiger Woods was a strong contender for the role, but he opted against the captaincy for the event at Bethpage Black.

That opened the door for Bradley to get the nod from the PGA of America, who have adopted a new approach for the next Ryder Cup.

And that is perhaps needed after the miserable showing from Zach Johnson and his players last time out.

Those hoping to make the cut next time out will definitely have different opinions on the appointment, with Thomas now sharing his thoughts on the new captain.

“I think he is going to be great,” said Thomas, as per Golf Channel. “I don’t think anybody can doubt or question him or his passion or his intensity or fire, which I think as a player is what I want a captain as someone I am going to battle for and with and know they want it as bad as I do. I think we all know Keegan’s intensity and he’s going to want it.”

Will Justin Thomas play at the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup?

Thomas will do all he can to impress Bradley over the coming months, but perhaps the latter only needs to consider the former’s displays at previous major tournaments.

Despite a tricky season last time out, Thomas was behind only teammates Max Homa, Brian Harman and Patrick Cantlay for American points won in Rome.

Moreover, he won four points from his five matches at the 2022 Presidents Cup, proving his ability in team events.

The next edition of the Presidents Cup is rapidly approaching, and provides Thomas with a fantastic opportunity to impress the new Ryder Cup captain.

But he needs to make the cut for Royal Montreal first, with Rex Hoggard suggesting that the two-time major winner must make the Presidents Cup team, despite Thomas currently sitting 14th in the qualification spots.
