For a player of Justin Thomas’s calibre, finishing any season without a victory will be seen as a disappointment.

Despite showing glimpses of his brilliant best, the two-time major winner struggled to find the consistency required to compete with Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele in 2024.

But, during the off-season, the signs have been positive for the 31-year-old. Thomas has been working on improving his speed, and after his recent outing at the Hero World Challenge, the American has certainly added extra yards with the driver.

Smylie Kaufman has backed Thomas to win a major in 2025 with his new-found length, and the Louisville-born star could be one to watch when the season starts at The Sentry in just a matter of weeks.

Few players have been working as hard as Thomas in recent months, and the two-time PGA Championship winner has often delivered updates on his progress via his Instagram feed.

In addition to providing updates on his game’s progress, Thomas’ latest post examines his goals for 2024.

When it came to tournament performance, Thomas fell short of his targets.

Before the 2024 season, the American targetted a victory, three-plus wins and a major, all of which he failed to achieve. Furthermore, Thomas wanted to make the Presidents Cup and Olympics teams, but neither materialised.

Finally, the American wanted to finish the year in the world’s top five; he currently sits 20th. One goal that Thomas achieved was to qualify for the 2024 Tour Championship. After the BMW Championship in Denver, Thomas booked the last spot in the season-ending field.

2025’s major championship venues are perfect for Justin Thomas

Thomas will want his game to peak for 2025’s major championship season.

The American has had a mixed time at Augusta, with his high finish of 4th coming four years ago in 2020. Since then, Thomas has missed two of four cuts at the first major of the season.

The second major of the year is where the American will rate his chances of competing as the PGA Championship returns to Quail Hollow, the scene of Thomas’ 2017 victory.

Oakmont, a course known for being suited for big hitters, will host the U.S. Open, making it a venue that may favour Thomas. Additionally, the American has consistently enjoyed playing on links courses, which could enhance his chances of winning the Open Championship at Royal Portrush.
