Justin Rose was among the star-studded field for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Yas Links this week.

Fellow Englishman Tommy Fleetwood equalled the course record with his opening round 62, but he could only go on to finish tied-six.

It was their compatriot Paul Waring who emerged victorious at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, with a course record 61 helping him lift the trophy.

Waring has now won his second DP World Tour title and first in over six years, having finished two shots ahead of Tyrrell Hatton on 22-under.

Four-time major champion Rory McIlroy rued rounds two and three in Abu Dhabi before a strong conclusion helped him finish tied-third.

Rose meanwhile was way off the pace, with the 2013 US Open champion finishing all the way down in 68th.

He did, however, still enjoy his tournament at Yas Links, with Rose writing on X: “Always enjoy my time in AbuDhabi at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

“Shame the game wasn’t as hot as the weather! Can’t wait to be back in January for the TeamCup.”

Justin Rose drops three places in Race to Dubai rankings as Paul Waring climbs to fifth

Rose certainly wasn’t at his best in Abu Dhabi, with the Englishman finishing 22 shots behind champion Waring.

Only Darius van Driel finished below him on one-under, with Daniel Brown having withdrawn during the event.

Rose is, however, 30th place in the Race to Dubai rankings thanks to his success elsewhere on the DP World Tour this season.
