Jordan Spieth has suggested one part of his game is as good as it’s ever been ahead of the PGA Championship at Valhalla.
It’s been a tricky start to the year for the three-time major champion, who missed cuts at The Masters and The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass.
Thus far, his highest finish came at The Sentry, where he finished solo third on 27 under. Another notable outing came at the WM Phoenix Open, where he tied for sixth.
Despite indifferent form heading to Valhalla, Spieth still believes his game is in good shape.
Jordan Spieth really pleased with his driving ahead of the PGA Championship

Speaking to the media after his practice round on Tuesday, Spieth revealed that he was really pleased with his work off the tee, specifically with the driver.
“I stand by what I’ve kind of said a little bit this year, he said. “I feel like my mechanics are more sound than they have been in a long time, I feel like I’m driving the ball better, maybe, than I’ve ever driven the golf ball.
“I feel like I’m playing better than my results, and that’s really frustrating. It’s a different kind of frustration. It’s not kind of the same as when you’re searching for stuff.”
Spieth also admitted that he needs to be more patient moving forward.
He added: “I’m not very good at being patient, but that’s kind of what I have to be, and then something will click, and I feel like I’m close to going off and doing some really cool things.”
Never rule out Jordan Spieth from a major championship
Regardless of who’s playing and in form, ruling Spieth out of a major championship is foolish.
He’s shown on several occasions that he’s more than capable of grinding out results when not at his best.
If the greens stay firm and the better putters are rewarded, there’s every chance of the three-time major champion competing this week.
This week’s has the potential to be one of the all-time greats. There are several in-form PGA Tour stars looking to land their first major title, as well as the LIV Golf contingent, who could also threaten the leaderboard.
Furthermore, Rory McIlroy appears to be back to his best and stands every chance of ending his ten-year wait for his fifth major title.
