Jordan Spieth ended his third round at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in perfect fashion.

Spieth played alongside his friend Si Woo Kim on day three of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, and they will be paired together once again on the final day of the PGA Tour event that is being dominated by Scottie Scheffler.

Scheffler showed Spieth how it’s done during the first two days at TPC Craig Ranch.

The 31-year-old three-time major winner is nowhere near his best right now. And it was suggested by Rich Beem at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson that Spieth should consider changing coaches.

However, he is currently tied for 23rd, and a round in the mid to low 60’s today could see him earn a top five finish.

And that would not have been possible had he not made an eagle on his final hole of the day.

Jordan Spieth makes admission after holing eagle putt at CJ Cup Bryon Nelson

Spieth rolled back the years as he poured in a putt for eagle from 21 feet on the 9th hole at Craig Ranch on Saturday (his final hole of the day).

A nice end to the tournament in McKinney, Texas would give the 31-year-old a huge confidence boost ahead of his attempt to complete the career Grand Slam at Quail Hollow in two week’s time.

Spieth spoke after his round and opened up on the incredible thing that he told Si Woo Kim just before rolling in his eagle putt on 18.

He said, I told Si Woo he’s not allowed to make it because then we wouldn’t play together tomorrow, so he had to two-putt. But if he did, and he did, then I said, ‘ok then it’s my job’. That’s what that was for. Then Si Woo and chest-bumped me, that was because we will play together again.

I’ve got a big stretch coming up and I had a late start this season and I’ve been kind of minorly improving each week. So I’m just trying to kind of enjoy the week. Just the fact that I’m here at home, getting my family and friends out on the course and stuff. But at the same time trying to keep on making improvements, looking forward to two weeks.

Does Spieth need to go back to playing like a kid again?

Spieth definitely seems to be far too mechanical out on the golf course right now.

Perhaps he needs to think more about what he was like when he was just a kid.

Everything came naturally to Spieth back then, and he was the best amateur in the world, before becoming a dominant force on the PGA Tour.

He seems to be suffering from somewhat of an information overload out on the golf course right now.

And that is never a good thing for a professional golfer during tournament play.

Hopefully Spieth finds some magic from somewhere very soon and returns to his former glories.
