Jordan Spieth endured a real rollercoaster of a round on day two of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch.
And Rich Beem gave some advice to Spieth that may not be well received by one specific person in his inner circle.
Scottie Scheffler was on fire at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, and leads the tournament on 17-under-par after rounds of 61 and 63.
Scheffler and Spieth are very close friends off the course, but their games on the course couldn’t be any more different right now.

The 31-year-old Dallas native’s game just seems to be miles away from where it needs to be right now.
Rich Beem says Jordan Spieth may have problem away from the golf course
It’s worth remembering that Spieth did go through wrist surgery back in August of last year.
But still, he’s a shadow of his former self.
Could he be trying too hard? Or does he need to go back to playing like a kid again?
Beem highlighted Spieth has become too mechanical over the ball, when speaking on Sky Sports’ broadcast of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson on Friday.
And he suggested that a change from his long-term coach Cameron McCormick might be necessary, if he is to rediscover his best form.

Beem said, “You know, the interesting thing after watching Jordan for years and years. He’s got Cameron McCormick who’s been with him since he was a little kid. If you look at Jordan’s short game it’s all feel, everything about it is feel. But when you look at his rehearsal swing, he’s trying to do something, trying to put it in position, instead of getting up there and just free-wheeling it you know. I don’t know if it’s taking a break from an instructor that can help kind of get your mind away from trying to make swings or trying to make feels. It certainly happen with the short game.”
It’s a fair point from Beem. Sometimes fresh ideas and a completely different viewpoint can help when you’re trying to get out of a slump in any sport.
Aside from that, perhaps he needs to take inspiration from his good friend Scottie Scheffler.
Spieth and Scheffler difference summed by two shots
The two Dallas natives played alongside one another during the first two rounds of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch.
Scheffler leads the golf tournament after firing rounds of 61 and 63, whilst Spieth just made the cut on six-under-par.
Two shots hit within about 10 minutes of each other summed their current situations up perfectly.
Spieth tried to get too greedy when his ball was in the thick rough on the 12th hole, and he couldn’t even advance the ball in the end.
He made a double bogey, before Scheffler showed him how it should done on the following hole. On the 13th, he took his medicine after missing the fairway to the left.
He pitched out and then proceeded to get up and down for a par from 139 yards out.
Spieth needs to look at how Scheffler manages his golf ball. The three-time major champion may be too technical over the golf ball, but his course management needs some work as well.
