Jon Rahm has certainly enjoyed his first regular season at LIV Golf, with the Individual Championship title going his way.

Rahm thinks he’s been treated unfairly this season, but he has undoubtedly answered his critics with this LIV success.

The Spaniard finished top of LIV Golf Chicago on 11 under, winning his tense battle with Joaquin Niemann at Bolingbrook.

Legion XIII captain Rahm carded just one bogey in Chicago, with Torque GC Captain Niemann finishing three shots behind the winner and runner-up in the season-long standings.

Fireballs GC Captain Sergio Garcia also finished three shots back, with the Spaniard clinching third place in the Individual Championship thanks to his display.

What Jon Rahm said to Tyrrell Hatton after winning LIV Golf Individual Championship

That was at the expense of Rahm’s teammate Tyrrell Hatton, who finished fourth in Chicago and fourth in the overall standings.

But Hatton didn’t let that disappointment get in the way of the celebrations, much to the displeasure of the champion.

Asked in his winning LIV Golf Chicago press conference if he got champagne up his nose during the celebrations, Rahm said “Yes.”

Explaining how that felt, he added: “Not good. I told Tyrrell not to do it again, and he did it again on the podium.

“You’ve got to breathe, right, so it was at one point where I thought it was gone, and his bottle kept going, and I tried to breathe and it went right up my nose.”

Can Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton win the LIV Golf Team Championship?

Hatton has been hugely impressive at recent LIV events, with the Englishman winning LIV Golf Nashville in June.

That was followed by solo third and T2 finishes at LIV Golf Andalucia and LIV Golf UK respectively from Hatton.

But a poor run at the start of the season has played a big role in the 32-year-old missing out on a podium finish this year.

Rahm has now made $37.9million this season following his win in Chicago, his second title of 2024 after LIV Golf UK.

His Legion XIII side – which includes Hatton, Kieran Vincent and Caleb Surratt – will now have their eyes on the team prize in Dallas next week.
