Jon Rahm reveals why he didn’t think Legion XIII could actually win at LIV Nashville this week

Jon Rahm saw his Legion XIII team win at LIV Nashville this weekend but even he has admitted he didn’t see it coming.

Tyrrell Hatton produced a stunning display of golf to take home the individual prize, while Rahm himself also showed up, carding a 12-under to help his side to the team win as well.

For Hatton and Rahm, it was a welcome return to form ahead of The Open in a few weeks’ time.

Both Rahm and Hatton both had nightmare US Open’s last week. Hatton carded a six over after four rounds, while Rahm never actually got going due to injury.

And despite winning in Nashville this weekend, Rahm has revealed why he never actually thought his team would get the win.

Speaking in his interview for LIV after seeing his team win the overall prize and Hatton take the solo win, Rahm admitted he didn’t actually see it coming.

“I was telling Jeff, our GM, earlier in the week that I didn’t think this was a golf course set up suited for our team,” Rahm said.

“Not that we can’t. But so far the two wins we have had were on the two more challenging golf courses, so those birdie fest type events so far hadn’t been our thing, but of course after I say that it happens that we end up with the win.”

At the end of the day, regardless of what you might think of the LIV events, some of the best players in the world are on display and with that, big results can happen.

For Tyrrell Hatton, the return to form is a big momentum booster ahead of Royal Troon.

The Englishman will be desperate to win on home soil and finally get his hands on one of the majors.

Of course, it will be a different battle altogether with the top players in the world from the PGA and LIV coming together and more competition.

But Hatton showed in Nashville he can produce and both he and Rahm will be among the players in contention at Royal Troon.
