Jon Rahm is one of only a few LIV Golfers to be in with a chance at the PGA Championship and he’s been making his own comments on the lack of big names near the top of the leaderboard.
In what has been a strange tournament so far, a number of huge names in golf have fallen by the wayside.
The likes of Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson have all missed the cut, while even Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele only just crept over the line.
Near the top of the leaderboard, Scottie Scheffler is in position to challenge, while Jon Rahm himself is only six back of the lead as he flies the flag for LIV.
However, when asked about the lack of star power at the top, Rahm fired a warning to those expecting a simple ride over the weekend.

In an awkward exchange in the media zone after round two, Rahm was asked about the lack of star power under par, Rahm initially said he didn’t need to know about anyone else’s game.
However, he eventually elaborated, and suggested that any of a number of big name players could easily make a run.
“Yeah, it can be. Yes and no. It’s a difficult golf course. I can see how somebody can shoot 5, 6-under fairly easily, and I can easily see how a round gets going the wrong way and you shoot 3-, 4-over. I don’t really ever think about how many major champions are out there, so I couldn’t tell you if this is normal or not,” Rahm said.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of those are 1-under to 1-over, that are good players, major champions, get a good run on the weekend, and tomorrow get a little bit more of a benign golf course and be in the afternoon, get the round going.”

While many players have struggled in this tournament, the LIV Golf side of things has been particularly let down by its big names.
The likes of Mickelson, Koepka, Dustin Johnson and Cam Smith have posted embarrassing scores really and it is further evidence that LIV is no good for keeping the very best sharp.
Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm seem to be the outliers in all of this though and put simply, they need to be back on the PGA Tour.
Yes, LIV is doing its own thing and Rahm and DeChambeau are key to that. But they are too good to not be playing ‘normal’ golf regularly and the fact they manage to keep in contention like they have done here, shows their class.
Eventually, they have to return to the PGA or they could end up regretting things when they look back.
