Jon Rahm has named five PGA Tour events he would love to play in despite his blockbuster move to LIV Golf last year.

The Spaniard completed his move to the Saudi-backed league in December 2023 despite initially emerging as one of the PGA Tour loyalists.

Unsurprisingly, the 29-year-old was honest about the main reason why he made the switch to LIV. In an interview with ESPN in 2023, He explained: “I’d be lying if it wasn’t a big part of it. In a nutshell, I’m getting paid more to play the same sport and have more time. I don’t know about most people but that sounds good to me.”

One of LIV Golf’s more popular events takes place this week in Adelaide, and the league’s marketing campaign is in full swing. Rahm, Greg Norman and South Australia’s premier, Peter Malinaskas, were placed front and centre to face the heat ahead of this week’s event.

Currently, LIV Golf stars are banned from appearing at PGA Tour events. Talks are believed to be ongoing between the two organisations regarding a potential merger.

Rahm has since opened up about his desire to play in five events on the PGA Tour if a resolution can be reached.

“I’ve said numerous times, and I’ll say it again – Palm Springs, Torrey Pines, Phoenix, LA, if I’m allowed, the Players,” he said [Golf Australia].

“Those are events that, if I could, I would love to play. I’m no stranger to playing 23, 24 events a year… and I’d still try to go play the Spanish Open and whatever I can in Spain, as well. That’s just what I want to do.”

What’s the latest on talks between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf?

For Rahm’s wishes to come true, an agreement must be reached between LIV, the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour.

Since the bombshell announcement of a framework agreement in June 2023, talks have dragged on, with the December 31st deadline having been and gone.

Speaking after his final round at the Masters, Tiger Woods opened up on the latest round of talks with PIF governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan.

“I don’t know if we’re closer, but certainly we’re headed in the right direction,” he said [Sports Pro Media].

“That was a very positive meeting, and I think both sides came away from the meeting feeling positive.”
