LIV Golf star Jon Rahm will have his sights set on a third major championship victory in 2025.
Despite Rahm winning the LIV Golf Individual Championship in Chicago, the Spaniard fell short in the four most significant events on any golfer’s schedule in 2024.
Rahm placed T45 during his Masters Tournament defence (nine over), missed the cut at the PGA Championship and placed T7 at The Open. Rahm also collapsed during the final round of the Olympic Golf Competition at Le Golf National.
Majors define the world’s elite players – and it’s time Rahm cemented his status with more added to his resume.
The 2025 major venue which confuses Jon Rahm

2025’s major championship venues could suit Rahm well. Of course, he’s tasted victory at Augusta National before and is more than capable of winning a second green jacket.
The brutish Oakmont could separate the game’s power players, and Smylie Kaufman has tipped Rahm to win the 2025 US Open in Pennsylvania.
Furthermore, after the Spaniard’s performance at Royal Troon in windy conditions, he could stand a chance in The Open at Royal Portrush.
However, 2025 PGA Championship venue, Quail Hollow, has left Rahm confused in the past.
Why Quail Hollow confuses Jon Rahm
Rahm is competing at this week’s Hero Dubai Desert Classic, and the Spaniard was asked if any courses ‘puzzle’ him.
A reporter asked: “Is there any golf course which still puzzles you, even after playing eight or ten times?”
Rahm replied: “I would say a good example would be Quail, Quail Hollow. It’s a course that, on paper, I should do really good at, and the two times I’ve played, I just haven’t played great, right? But it’s also because I just wasn’t hitting it great.
“It’s such a demanding golf course that if you’re not hitting it well, especially off the tee, you’re going to have a long week, and that’s what happened to me both times.
But there are certain courses that you learn to play, and there’s a course like Muirfield Village, you have to play a few times and learn how to play, and the first time I went, I played terribly after that. Played a little better.”
Rahm played the 2017 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow and finished in a tie for 58th (seven over). The Spaniard was 15 shots back of eventual winner Justin Thomas. Rory McIlroy is another who has been backed ahead of the PGA’s return to Charlotte. The Northern Irishman has a brilliant record at the venue and won the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship.
