Jon Rahm has explained why he was really surprised by something he heard about his LIV Golf teammate Tyrrell Hatton.
The European duo, without a doubt, were the most prominent names to join the breakaway tour for the 2024 season.
So far, Rahm and Hatton have been enjoying themselves in Greg Norman’s venture. The Spaniard currently sits second in the individual standings and hasn’t finished outside the top ten thus far.
As for Hatton, the Englishman managed to pick up his first win in three-and-a-half years in Nashville last weekend, edging out Rahm in the process.
The 32-year-old has admitted he’s still adapting to life on LIV despite claiming his first individual title at the Grove.

Rahm and Hatton appear to be quite close, having competed in the Ryder Cup together and now representing Legion XIII.
The Spaniard has admitted he was surprised to learn of how long Hatton had gone winless before his recent win in Nashville.
“I didn’t know it was 3-1/2 years ago the last time he won,” Rahm told LIV Golf’s website. “I’m quite surprised because he’s that good a player.”
“He’s pretty steady, Tyrrell. I think that’s how you can explain it. That’s the beauty of it. He’s a fierce competitor, and when he gets up there, he has that mentality and intensity that you need to get it done.”
Rahm added: “Obviously, we’ve shared some big stages in the Ryder Cup and seen him hit the shots when we needed to make them.
“Just personally has not really changed, but obviously, his game improved slightly in everything.
“There’s not really any shortcomings when it comes to his game. He’s good at everything. He’ll probably tell you there’s a few things he doesn’t like, but that’s just an everyday thing.”

As previously mentioned, Rahm’s form with LIV this year has been nothing short of imperious.
The Spaniard regularly places inside the top five and has finished third three times. Thus far, the only time the 29-year-old has placed outside the top ten was during the Houston event, when he withdrew due to a foot injury.
It feels like a case of when and if the two-time major winner lands his first LIV Golf title.
In the race for the individual championship, Rahm still needs to hunt down Joaquin Niemann. The Chilean is currently 36 points ahead after his early-season wins in Mayakoba and Jeddah.
After his win at Nashville, Hatton is now third in the rankings, 21 points behind his Legion XIII teammate.
