The Tour Championship has been and gone as Scottie Scheffler landed golf’s most lucrative prize for the first time.

The American edged out Collin Morikawa by four shots at East Lake to add $25 million to his 2024 season earnings.

After being gifted a two-shot lead before Thursday’s first tee, Scheffler never looked like relinquishing his lead and eventually cruised to victory.

Morikawa, however, shot the lowest score over the four days and is just one of the players to receive a significant world ranking boost.

Here, The Golfing Gazette takes a look at how the OWGR has been impacted after the season-ending finale.

Collin Morikawa – 6th to 4th

Morikawa was the big winner in the OWGR during the Tour Championship. The American jumped two places up to fourth in the rankings.

Only Rory McIlroy, Scheffler and Xander Schauffele sit above the 27-year-old.

It’s been an impressive rise throughout the season after Morikawa started the year 13th.

Ludvig Aberg – 4th to 5th

As a result of Morikawa’s rise, Ludvig Aberg has fallen one spot to fifth. The Swede, however, will be pleased with his work this season, having started 2024 29th in the world.

Taking the next step and landing a major would go a long way in boosting the 24-year-old’s lofty ranking even further.

Wyndham Clark – 5th to 6th

Wyndham Clark finished the 2024 season impressively, finishing stand alone eighth on 17 under in Atlanta.

However, despite his impressive performance, the American has dropped one place in the rankings to sixth.

Tommy Fleetwood – 12th to 11th

One player who has moved up a spot is Tommy Fleetwood.

The Englishman finished 20th at the Tour Championship and never really threatened the leaders.

Nevertheless, the 33-year-old has moved up one spot to 11th in the OWGR.

Jon Rahm – 13th to 14th

Jon Rahm started the season third in the OWGR but has dropped eleven spots down to 14th.

The Spaniard’s presence on LIV Golf has seen opportunities for world ranking points become extremely limited.

The two-time major winner will no doubt welcome a change in legislation that will finally allow LIV players to gain world ranking recognition.
