Bryson DeChambeau has certainly enjoyed a transformation in golf like few others, with the two-time major champion establishing himself as one of the most popular figures in the current game.
Bryson DeChambeau faced plenty of ridicule during his first few years on tour. Few seemed to do anything at all quite like DeChambeau. His swing was unique, his clubs were unique, and he seemed to have unwavering faith in the idea that what he was doing was right for him.
No-one was ridiculing the 31-year-old as he won the US Open at Pinehurst earlier this year. DeChambeau was the fans’ favourite, even up against Rory McIlroy. And he attempted to give everyone around the 18th hole the chance to actually touch the trophy.
Fans have seen a different side to DeChambeau in recent years. And it is arguably his YouTube channel which has allowed a much more likeable side of DeChambeau to shine through. Certainly, fans were hugely invested in DeChambeau recently trying to make a hole in one over his own house, with the videos posted on social media each day.
Joaquin Niemann shares what Bryson DeChambeau has inspired Torque GC to now do
And speaking to Flushing It, Joaquin Niemann has now confirmed that Torque GC are launching their own YouTube channel after seeing the success DeChambeau has had.
“Yeah. So I mean, obviously, looking at what Bryson is doing is pretty cool. I was just watching a few stuff that he’s doing and the challenge that he’s doing where he’s trying to do a hole in one. I mean, seeing how much influence he’s having on social media with golf, is pretty impressive. And I think he’s kind of like a role model for a lot of players and for a lot of teams in LIV Golf,” he said.

“Seeing what Crushers are doing and the way they’re growing on social media, it’s a competition for us. You know, obviously we’re trying to beat him on the golf course. We’re trying to be a team as strong as them on social media, which we cannot stay behind that.”
How DeChambeau’s popularity has increased on social media
Given the popularity of YouTube golf right now, it really does appear that DeChambeau will be known as something of a game-changer, with very few elite players providing so much access behind the curtain.
DeChambeau’s hole in one challenge was watched 171 million times across the various platforms, while he gained more than 340,000 followers on both Instagram and TikTok while the challenge was ongoing. His YouTube channel also now has 1.62 million subscribers.
It appears to have been a masterstroke to have got involved with making content. And it is hardly surprising that Torque GC are now set to follow in the footsteps and become the latest LIV Golf team to launch a channel.
