Joaquin Niemann is one of the many stars of LIV Golf but like so many on the Saudi-backed tour, he isn’t eligible for the PGA events.

Niemann got an invite to The Masters last year but due to his LIV contract, he is forced to sit out all the PGA sanctioned events

Speaking to the media at the Australian Open, Niemann was asked about his future and playing on the PGA Tour.

Niemann missed out on the US Open but did play in the Masters, The Open and the PGA, with his best finish being a 22nd at Augusta.

However, while the majors are what most golfers play for, Niemann actually misses two other tournaments the most.

Joaquin Niemann says there’s two events he wishes he could still play on the PGA Tour

Speaking to the media at the Australian Open, Niemann was asked about his LIV status and if he misses anything about the PGA side of things.

But for Niemann, there’s only a few events he actually misses.

“To be honest, I don’t think there’s many people that would want to play all over the world,” Niemann said.

“They just want to play on LIV and that’s it, and there’s a few guys who probably just want to play on the PGA Tour and that’s it. For me, if I don’t play on the PGA Tour, I don’t think it would really hurt me a lot but I would like to play more.”

“Ideally it would be awesome to play PGA Tour events. As captain of my team, Torque, I am playing LIV Golf and I would love to play those 14 events as well as a few events I love from the PGA Tour.

“I love Riviera, The Players and if I could pick three or four events from the PGA Tour and play those, and then a few others on the DP World Tour, I would love to. Playing on LIV Golf and having the DP World Tour around – I played the Rolex series for the first time – was awesome, and if I can play those plus a few other events and the majors, I am happy.”

Niemann will be desperate to win a major in 2025

Joaquin Niemann was invited to The Masters because his form was so good. And while he disappointed in the end in all the majors, he is a top player in the world.

Niemann won twice on LIV last year and finished inside the top 10 regularly to cement his place as one of the best on LIV.

Now, the next task for the Chilean is to back up his talent with a major win and in 2025, he might just do it.

Sure, he’ll have to make sure he’s part of the field but after being inspired by Bryson DeChambeau at the US Open, Niemann will see a big opportunity to make his mark for LIV.
