Jay Monahan has dropped a clue on whether any of President Donald Trump’s golf courses will once again host PGA Tour events.
With Trump back in the Oval Office, there is hope that the 78-year-old will assist the PGA Tour in its protracted negotiations with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, the financial arm of LIV Golf.
Trump met with Adam Scott and Monahan last week and also played a round with Tiger Woods in Florida. The President is a well-known lover of the game and has hosted professional events on his 18 properties worldwide.
Monahan, speaking ahead of this week’s Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines, has discussed the possibility of the PGA Tour returning to one of Trump’s courses after his re-election.
Jay Monahan drops hint on new PGA Tour courses

“Listen, we’ve played at Trump venues in the past. While we haven’t talked about that with the president, I certainly see a day when we’re adding Trump venues to our schedule, certainly,” Monahan said.
“Listen, if you think about what the fans want, the fans want reunification. That’s what we’re focused on. We’ve operated in a world where there’s more than one, and the PGA Tour has performed very well. But in the long run, is that the best thing for fans? Is that the best thing for the game? We’re trying to solve it so everybody benefits.”
What Donald Trump courses have hosted PGA Tour events?
The most famous PGA Tour event, which was held at one of Trump‘s courses, was the Doral Open in Florida. The event was played annually for 45 seasons from 1962 to 2006.
Now named Trump National Doral, the ‘Blue Monster’ hosts the LIV Golf Miami event, and the league will return to the venue before the 2025 Masters.
What’s more, the 2022 PGA Championship was set to be held at Trump Bedminster, 40 miles away from Manhattan. However, following the US Capitol riots while Trump was still in office, the PGA Championship was moved to Southern Hills in Tulsa, a venue which has hosted the event on multiple occasions.
Given the quality of Trump’s courses, the PGA Tour would be foolish to pass up the chance to return to one of his venues.
