When it comes to bringing professional golf back together as one, few would have imagined years ago that Donald Trump could end up being such a major player in getting things sorted.

Avid golf fan Trump, now into his second term as US President, is as fanatical about the game of golf as anyone and has his own rich history within the game.

Now in 2025, with the PGA Tour and LIV Golf still fractured and no deal in place as yet, Trump is being looked towards as someone with major influence who can influence the correct people.

Indeed, Brandel Chamblee recently revealed Trump’s take on bringing golf together could look like.

Of course, another man with major influence – inside the PGA Tour anyway – is Tiger Woods. 15-time major winner Woods is a player director and along with Adam Scott and others, has some sway with Jay Monahan.

And now, it looks like Woods and Trump have used Superbowl weekend as an excuse to get their heads together.

Tiger Woods and Donald Trump play golf ahead of Superbowl LIX

With so much going on in golf right now, it seemed inevitable that Trump and Tiger would come together at some point and it seems that’s what’s happened this weekend.

Fox News reports how Woods and Trump have spent Sunday morning taking in a round of golf together at Trump’s International Golf Club in Florida.

Little is known about the outcome or content of any discussions they might have had. But with Woods and Trump seemingly so influential in the future of golf, it would be a surprise if nothing was mentioned.

Trump is no stranger to Woods and awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2019. The President also sent a heartfelt message to Woods after his mother passed away last week.

Why Donald Trump could bring golf back together

It’s no secret that President Trump is a huge golf fan but he’s also good friends with the LIV chief, Yasser Al-Rumayyan.

On that note, he’ll be keen to do the best deal possible for golf and of course, the USA.

Rory McIlroy has been among those who hope Trump can help broker a deal, with his role in getting things passed through the DoJ seen as key.

“Yeah, I think from the outside looking in, it’s probably a little less complicated than it actually is. But obviously Trump has a great relationship with Saudi Arabia. He’s got a great relationship with golf. He’s a lover of golf. So, maybe. Who knows?,” McIlroy said at the time of Trump’s re-election.

Quite whether he got anywhere in his round with Tiger in terms of discussions, remains to be seen.
