Jake Knapp is just one shot behind Taylor Pendrith heading into the final round of the Byron Nelson this weekend.
The impressive 29-year-old is enjoying a stellar start to 2024 after only earning his full PGA card by playing the Korn Ferry Tour back in 2023.
Knapp has already won in Mexico and showed signs of good form in other tournaments.
But this weekend in the Byron Nelson, he’s delivered across the opening three days to be a whopping 18-under par and just a shot behind Canadian rival Pendrith.
Knapp will go out in the final group with Pendrith and will hope to still be one of the leaders by the time he gets his round underway late afternoon.
Of course, to win, he’s going to need all his game to come together and when asked about what stresses him out while playing, Knapp admitted it’s something all of us amateurs can relate to.

Jake Knapp shares what really stresses him out when playing golf
Speaking in his flash interview after the third round yesterday, Knapp was asked about what stresses him about golf.
And with an answer we can all relate to, Knapp quipped the following.
“When I don’t putt well…that usually stresses me out. But no, nothing particular really. I think now life’s just gotten a lot busier and everything’s kind of crazier. So it’s kind of nice to be able to go to the gym, put on some headphones and just stay in my world for a little bit to be honest,” Knapp said.
Could Jake Knapp win one of the majors?
While Knapp didn’t do the business at The Masters and ended up way down tied for 55th, there is a chance he can produce at The PGA and win out.
As he mentions in this interview, he’s not quite fully in for both The US Open and The Open, so he’s hoping to produce enough results to get into those.
Also, his form in general has not been amazing since that win in Mexico if you just look at the most recent tournaments.
However, going back to The Farmers in January, Knapp finished tied for third, followed that up with a respectable 28th at The WM Open, before winning in Mexico and then following that up with a fourth in the Cognizant Classic.
If he can produce that sort of form, then he could be a threat in the majors.
A win this weekend, then, would set him up very nicely indeed.
