Jake Knapp is among the leaders at the Byron Nelson this weekend and he’s been speaking to the press after carding a solid four-under yesterday.
Knapp has emerged as one of the rising stars on the PGA Tour this year and his story has been well documented in terms of only earning his full PGA Tour card last year by playing on the Korn Ferry.
Since then, Knapp has been in contention more than once and even picked up a win at The Mexico Open back in February to really propel himself into he limelight.
Going into today’s final round at the Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch, Knapp is one behind leader Taylor Pendrith, who carded a remarkable eight under yesterday to shoot up the leaderboard.

Of course, whether or not a player keeps an eye on the leaderboard when in contention is often a question pros get asked. And a lot of the times, the stock answer of ‘just doing my own thing’ surfaces.
However, speaking about today’s final round, Knapp has admitted he bucks the trend a bit when it comes to leaderboard watching.
Jake Knapp shares why he’ll be fully watching the leaderboard at the Byron Nelson on Sunday
Speaking to the press after his round on Saturday, Knapp admitted that he’ll firmly be keeping eyes on what’s happening before he heads out late afternoon.
“I do best when I do kind of leaderboard watch and I see what other guys are doing. You see what guys do in the morning and you get an idea how the course is playing. So if there’s a bunch at four/five under, you know the course is probably gettable and if there’s a bunch of guys at just one under then you know it’s probably not. I’ll keep an eye on that but for the most part, my game-plan has been the same all week so try and stick to that and then just execute,” Knapp said.
Knapp will be hoping for a fast start to his round and also hoping Pendrith drops a few shots as well.
However, there are also a bunch of players – including England’s Matt Wallace – not too far back on -17.
Come Knapp’s time, then, the leaderboard may have a completely different look to it.
