J.T. Poston had two ‘very weird’ moments in the final holes prior to winning the Shriners Children’s Open

J.T. Poston emerged victorious at the Shriners Children’s Open at TPC Summerlin to clinch his third PGA Tour title.

Poston secured a one-shot win over Doug Ghim in Las Vegas, securing his first PGA Tour win of the season.

A four-foot par putt on the 18th ensured the American avoided a play-off with comptatriot Ghim at the Shriners Children’s Open.

Gary Woodland was once in contention in Las Vegas, but the 2019 US Open champion ultimately finished T9.

And Matt McCarty was at the Shriners Children’s Open after his maiden PGA Tour title at the Black Desert Championship last week, but the recent champion missed the cut.

Smylie Kaufman enjoys ‘weird’ win at Shriners Children’s Open

Smylie Kaufman has now analysed the latest result on the FedEx Cup Fall schedule, having enjoyed the final-round drama in Vegas.

“I think it came down to the 11th hole and the 14th hole,” he said on The Smylie Show. “Doug Ghim hit it to five or six feet on 11 and maybe a little longer than that on 14 and missed both the putts. It came down to one shot and that’s what it eventually came down to.

“The putt on 16 was weird to see him miss. 17 putt was a very weird miss. And then 16 I was like oh my gosh, is he going to make this? But fun to have some drama at the end.”

J.T. Poston holds off Doug Ghim at Shriners Children’s Open

Poston was made to work extremely hard for his third PGA Tour title, having been pushed all the way by Ghim.

The former built a three-shot lead heading into the final round, with the latter going on to impress with a fourth-round 65.

But Poston carded a final-round, four-under 67 to emerge victorious, ending his tournament on 22-under.

Ghim narrowly missed out after finishing on 21-under, with Rico Hoey and Matthias Schmid tying for third on 19-under.
