LIV Golf has not exactly managed to capture the imagination during the off-season with golf fans waiting to see which players may make the jump from the PGA Tour ahead of the 2025 schedule.

While there were reports that Tony Finau had agreed to join LIV, the league is still awaiting its first marquee addition of the winter. Lee Chieh-po has qualified through the Promotions event, while Yubin Jang and Frederik Kjettrup have signed for Iron Heads and Cleeks respectively.

One of the teams who had no places to fill in this off-season was Majesticks GC, with co-captains Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood and Henrik Stenson all finishing in the open zone on LIV Golf. Meanwhile, Sam Horsfield was their best performer in 2024.

But perhaps plans could have changed, with The Showdown, as it turns out, not being the only match pitting LIV Golf players against their PGA Tour rivals this week.

Ian Poulter attempts to sign PGA Tour player for Majesticks

In Good Good’s latest video, three teams took on a nine-hole match involving three different formats. One of the teams included Poulter and Stenson, while another involved Luke Clanton – the amateur who finished in the top 10 in four of his eight appearances on the PGA Tour in 2024.

At one stage, Clanton – who is now inside the top 100 in the world rankings – absolutely flushed a drive. And that prompted Poulter to produce a Majesticks shirt and cap.

“Seeing as you’ve just sent that 320, why don’t we make you a Majestick right now. Let’s get you fully Majestick-ed up. It will look real good, look at that, beautiful,” he joked.

How Luke Clanton fared on the PGA Tour in 2024

Clanton definitely established himself as a name to look out for in 2025 and beyond. He very nearly followed Nick Dunlap’s lead by winning the RSM Classic as an amateur. Ultimately, the 21-year-old had to settle for his second second place finish of the year in Georgia.

Clanton is definitely making a big impression on the PGA Tour. And it is almost more impressive that he is planning to remain an amateur for the time-being. He would have been forgiven for immediately turning professional having missed out on receiving the $1.8 million Clanton would have earned this year.

He seems to be exactly the kind of player the PGA Tour should be rolling the red carpet out for, particularly with LIV seemingly focusing a little more of their attention of the potential superstars of the future.
