The PGA have announced a major investment deal today which will see the Strategic Sports Group invest in the game and Max Homa has offered up his reaction.

The Tour made the major statement earlier in the day. Among the headline grabbing parts of the announcement was a reported £3bn investment, while there was still no deal with the PIF and LIV in place either.

Naturally, it’s a statement the world of golf has been waiting for and while it does close some doors, it opens up a whole host of new questions as well.

Of course, PGA players were bound to want their say on the matter. And after DP World Tour star Pablo Larrazabal provided his response earlier, PGA star Max Homa has now weighed in with his verdict.

Taking to X on social media, Homa admitted that he has an optimism in the direction the tour could now go, and was keen to shift the focus away from money.

As yet, there have been no statements or response from key voices in the game like Rory McIlory.

It’s been a big week for McIlroy, a vocal critic of how things have gone since LIV arrived. The Northern Irishman has also seen his TGL teammate Tyrell Hatton make the move to LIV this week as well.

Golf is moving in a brand new direction

This statement from the PGA probably contained a lot of things people expected but the sight of no deal with the PIF just yet leaves a cloud over things.

Of course, this sort of money and investment, especially with the people involved, ‘should’ help improve the game in general.

As Homa says here, the model and direction is something to be optimistic about and it does seem to give the players a touch more power as well.

Golf is changing massively. And further down the line a link up with LIV or the PIF will only add more change and influence.
