The PGA Tour has made its announcement today and while there was no inclusion of LIV Golf and PIF as such, it was still big news.
The PGA have confirmed that a new partnership with Strategic Sports Group will see around £3bn pumped into the tour through different avenues.
It essentially means that those on the PGA Tour have got guaranteed purses to play for over the next five years and likely means those purses are going to be substantial enough to keep the very top players around.

Going forward, though, there are still big questions. What will happen with the LIV/PIF deal? And what will happen to the other tours, such as the DP World Tour?
Well, that’s a question that DP World Tour member Pablo Larrazabal has asked himself as he became one of the first golfers to react to the news from the PGA.
Taking to X, the 10-time tour winner questioned where this now leaves DP and posed the question of if this will be beneficial to those outside of the PGA.
PGA announcement leaves a lot of unanswered questions
This will likely be welcomed by a lot of people within the game, especially those at the higher end of the spectrum who will benefit from the money side of things.
However, as Larrazabal says, there are still questions to be answered here.
Yes, the PGA has historically had some sort of mutual agreement with the DP Tour that means both benefit in some way or another. But whether that will remain the same going forward, is open to debate.
Down the line, we will no doubt hear of another announcement involving LIV and the PIF. That could be the ultimate game-changer and even then, questions will remain.
Golf is in a bit of a whirlwind cycle right now and it’s an ever-changing landscape.
This announcement from the PGA feels very much just like the start of a major shift in the game.
Whether it will work out for the good or bad overall, remains to be seen.
