Team USA’s 12 players for the Ryder Cup are set in stone and vice captain Webb Simpson has been giving his thoughts on those who didn’t quite make it.

In the end, Keegan Bradley opted not to pick himself and instead, stuck to captain’s duties.

Players like Cameron Young, Sam Burns and Ben Griffin were given the nod, as others missed out.

Andrew Novak was among those to miss the cut, while other good performers in 2025 like Maverick McNealy and big names like Jordan Spieth and Brian Harman, were also omitted.

All eyes now, then, are on Bradley and his vice-captains getting it right in the build-up.

Indeed, one of those vice-captains, Webb Simpson, has been speaking about just how tough it was to not name everyone.

Webb Simpson names the US players who could have made the Ryder Cup team

Webb Simpson will very much be one of the key voices and figureheads for Bradley as he looks to navigate his first Ryder Cup as skipper.

Of course, Simpson is a trusted confidant of Bradley and speaking to the media on just how tough selection was, Simpson nodded to a number of players who missed out.

And in doing so, he revealed that a player like Brian Harman was someone who they could easily have selected.

“I feel like a good number of guys. I think of Mav McNealy, the season he has had, 10th on points, the playoffs he had. He’s a great putter. I love Mav,” Simpson explained.

“Brian Harman, all the guys love Brian. He is such a great player. A major winner. That was a hard one.
Novak has had a heck of a season. I know he got hurt in the middle of the season and that probably put him behind the eight ball a little bit.

“But then you throw in the captain himself, he has played about as good as anybody outside of Scheffler, so those calls I do not envy Keegan on those. He said they all handled it really well. But that’s got to be a tough role to play.”

A refreshed Team USA can regain the Ryder Cup

Team USA have, for too long, picked the same old faces and never really moved into the talent pool below some of those stellar names.

Now, though, Keegan Bradley has gone with a revitalised and youthful feeling American team which he’ll be hoping can kickstart a massive push right from day one.

Players like Cam Young and Russell Henley will go in with no fear, while Ben Griffin is one of the most confident players on the whole of the PGA Tour.

Yes, Team Europe have their own big stars and a great team spirit.

But there’s a good feeling about this US team and if they start well, they could very well end up being too much for the Europeans.
