Peter Finch and Rick Shiels were involved in a groundbreaking YouTube golf video hosted by PGA Tour player Wesley Bryan and his brother, George.

The sponsored video featured six of the platform’s most prominent personalities competing in a lucrative skins match, with significant financial rewards at stake.

Shiels and Finch were joined by the Bryan Bros, Fat Perez, and Grant Horvat on the fairways of Solina Golf Club, a course Wesley and George renovated.

For those who are unaware, a skins match can be played by an unlimited number of players. In short, the player with the lowest score on a hole wins a ‘skin’.

If two or more players post the same score, the skin is carried over. For example, if three holes are tied, three skins pass over to the following hole. In theory, if every hole is tied, 17 skins could be up for grabs on the 18th tee.

In this unique YouTube showdown, each skin on holes one to 16 were worth $5000, with 17 and 18 worth $10,000 each.

And it’s fair to say Shiels turned up when it mattered.

With four skins and $20,000 on the line on the fourth hole, Shiels holed his birdie putt. Horvat, who had the chance to cancel out the Englishman’s birdie, missed his putt to hand Shiels the $20,000.

Amazingly, things were about to get better for Shiels. With five skins and $25,000 on the line on the ninth, Horvat missed again to take the Englishman’s balance to $45,000.

Finch, unfortunately, failed to win any skins during the 18-hole showdown. The Preston-born YouTuber didn’t give himself too many chances and was let down by an ice-cold putter. Perez and Wesley were the other players who left the course empty-handed.

George, who Shiels said is better than Wes, made five birdies in a row, including one on the 18th to also bank $45,000.

Horvat eventually took home $10,000 after missing a series of putts to boost his winnings further. It was an innovative idea and, hopefully, just the start of a series of some big YouTube collaborations.
