Hitting the ball further than LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau is something almost all amateur golfers can only dream about.

The 2024 US Open champion is known for his booming drives and ability to carry all of his clubs further than pretty much anyone in the LIV Golf League.

DeChambeau averaged 323.5 yards off the tee in 2024, one yard further than his nearest competitor, Joaquin Niemann. The American’s accuracy, however, isn’t quite at the same level, with Henrik Stenson the number one ranked fairway finder on LIV.

It’s not just DeChambeau’s driving distance which is eye-catching. The 30-year-old can carry his unique 3D-printed irons and wedges further than most.

And, in his latest video, DeChambeau has demonstrated how his stock yardages compare to those of a scratch amateur player.

YouTube star Garrett Clark is a +5 handicapper and competed in the Creator Classic at East Lake back in September.

The Good Good Golf member was the amateur drafted by DeChambeau to test just how much further the two-time major winner’s stock yardages are.

And here are the results:

Clark is quite clearly a big hitter himself, but he is still a considerable distance behind the LIV Golf man with nearly every single club.

Average scratch golfer yardages

Clark, in fact, sits well above the average when it comes to scratch golfer stock yardages. A low handicap player usually hits their drive around 250 yards, which is nearly 100 yards short of DeChambeau and 70 short of Clark.

Furthermore, looking at the longer irons, a 3-iron goes 205 yards and a 4-iron 185 yards, which further demonstrates that the figures above are massive outliers.

The average stock yardages of a low handicap player should, in fact, give hope to those who are attempting to reach single figures.

Clearly, hitting the ball over 300 yards and being a big hitter isn’t the be-all and end-all when it comes to reaching scratch.
