Nelly Korda’s 2024 season will go down in history as one of the best in LPGA Tour history.

Seven victories and over $14.4m in prize money make Korda the current gold standard in the women’s game.

Of course, the world number one experienced ups and downs along the way. Korda’s struggles at the US Open continued, and she suffered a mid-season drop in form. Yet, after winning The Annika and finishing the year strong, Korda demonstrated why she’s head and shoulders above the rest at present.

Korda has been backed for a big 2025, and given the way her game was trending towards the back end of last year, it would take a brave person to bet against her.

One of Korda’s main strengths is her distance off the tee. The 26-year-old is 20th on the LPGA Tour for average driving distance and is also among the straightest hitters.

Here, The Golfing Gazette takes a look at Korda’s stock yardages compared to the average male scratch golfer.

Nelly Korda’s stock yardages:

Male scratch golfer yardages

According to data from National Club Golfer and Shot Scope, a male scratch golfer’s stock yardages are similar to Korda’s.

Looking at the numbers above, a scratch golfer is marginally longer off the tee. However, when it comes to the shorter irons and wedges, Korda’s yardages are actually more significant.

Professionals typically look to take loft off their wedges when playing approach shots, which promotes a lower launch angle and, ultimately, more yardage.

There are, of course, some anomalies when it comes to scratch players. YouTube star Garrett Clark is a +5 handicap and hits his 7-iron over 200 yards.

But, as Korda’s success demonstrates, hitting 300-yard shots off the tee is not the deal breaker when looking to shoot low scores.
