Bryson DeChambeau is widely regarded as one of the longest hitters in the professional game. The LIV Golf star regularly smashes drives over the 350-yard mark.

During the 2020/21 PGA Tour season, DeChambeau’s obsession with distance almost reached an unhealthy level. At the 2021 Arnold Palmer Invitational, DeChambeau attempted to hit the green on the par-five sixth and carry a vast water hazard in the process. It was a play many thought was impossible.

What’s more, during the 2021 US Open at Winged Foot, DeChambeau’s bomb and gauge tactics puzzled some of the world’s best players. “I don’t really know what to say because that’s just the complete opposite of what you think a U.S. Open champion does,” said Rory McIlroy.

“Look, he’s found a way to do it. Whether that’s good or bad for the game, I don’t know, but it’s not the way I saw this golf course being played or this tournament being played. It’s kind of hard to really wrap my head around it.”

In a bid to gain speed, DeChambeau bulked up to improve his muscle mass. Speaking during an interview in 2023, the American admitted his weight change was a mistake.

Now back at a natural size, the LIV star is still one of golf’s biggest hitters. However, he now faces competition.

So far in 2025, DeChambeau isn’t even in the top five when it comes to driving average on the LIV Golf League.

The American is currently ninth and is averaging 302 yards with the big stick in hand. Chilean star Joaquin Niemann is eighth (304 yards), and Dean Burmester is seventh.

Cameron Smith is sixth (306) yards and is followed by Caleb Surratt, Lucas Herbert, David Puig and Tom McKibbin (311).

There is, however, a runaway leader at present.

Former PGA Tour player Peter Uihlein is currently averaging 324 yards off the tee, which stacks up against some of the biggest hitters who have ever played the game.

PGA Tour’s longest hitters revealed

Over on the PGA Tour, South African sensation Aldrich Potgieter is the longest hitter, averaging 328 yards off the tee, two yards greater than Rory McIlroy.

Niklas Norgaard is third (325) and Tim Wilding fourth (323). Aussie star Min Woo Lee is also in the top ten, as is PGA Tour rookie Karl Vilips.

At the other end of the spectrum, Brian Campbell is the Tour’s shortest hitter and is currently averaging 276 yards, 52 yards less than Potgieter.

Another interesting name near the foot of the standings is two-time major winner Collin Morikawa. The American is currently clocking 292 yards with his driver in hand.
