LIV Golf and PGA Tour mergers. It’s one of the hottest topics of discussion in golf right now and dominates headlines off the course.
The Saudi backed LIV tour has started to see some improvements in recent weeks with the LIV Adelaide event proving a home-run for them as a product.
Now over in Singapore, LIV are hoping for another successful weekend while on the PGA Tour, it’s the CJ Cup Byron Nelson on the line this weekend.
Of course, those two tournaments will go ahead and play out but during and afterwards, fans and media will be interested in any developments when it comes to a LIV/PGA merger.
Talks have apparently been underway for some time now over a deal which could see the two tours work together at some point.
However, speaking on the situation again, LIV CEO and former tour pro, Greg Norman, has given his latest answer to the burning question.

Greg Norman discusses LIV Golf and PGA merger and shares what Yasir Al-Rumayyan has told him
Answering questions about LIV for Bloomberg, Norman was asked about the future of LIV and specifically, a merger with the PGA.
Norman, though, doubled down on developing LIV and shared what the chairman of LIV – Yasir Al-Rumayyan – had told him.
“Look I’m just going to answer as CEO of LIV. My chairman has told me LIV isn’t going anywhere. It will be well and truly in operation well past his death, and he’s a young guy. He’s asked me to stay focussed and deliver. LIV is a standalone entity, he’s invested billions of dollars into this and we’re starting to see the creation of an ROI on this, so we’re going to stay focussed,” Norman said.
Could LIV go it alone?
If the LIV Golf product continues to shine, improve, and draw fans like it did in Australia, there is a real chance that it doesn’t need the PGA Tour or its players to do well.
As Norman says, they are already getting a return on their investment and once they can lock in some sort of big TV or streaming deal, the sky will be the limit.
Of course, an ideal world sees all the world’s best players competing on a weekly basis.
But if that isn’t to happen, LIV have actually shown they could go it alone and that will be a worry for the men in suits over on the PGA board.
As usual, then, it’s a case of watch this space when it comes to LIV and PGA talk.
