The first two weeks of the TGL divided opinions across the golfing world. So far, it’s hard to know whether the tech-infused venture is proving engaging or actually more of a gimmick.
After Jupiter Links Golf Club and New York Golf Club were thrashed in the opening fixtures, golf fans are now desperate for a closely-fought match to take place; only then will the TGL potentially show its full worth.
Positives have also emerged, however.
The TGL’s use of the shot clock has exposed just how much of an issue slow play is on the PGA Tour. Those competing in the indoor league only have 40 seconds to hit their shot.
Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy‘s joint project currently has some teething issues, but they can be quickly ironed out. However, one person who hasn’t been watching is former LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman.
What Greg Norman has said about the TGL

In an interview with Australian Golf Digest, Norman discussed the TGL and revealed that he hasn’t been watching it.
“No, I haven’t watched a bit of it because there’s a couple of players who’ve been very vocal against me,” Norman said. “So I’m not going to say anything positive or negative about it. All I can say is: the more golf gets exposure in different ways, the better off it is.
“Simulator golf is simulator golf. We had putt-putt and all those miniature golf courses we built around the world. I think innovation is a wonderful thing, I’m not going to belittle that. I wish them all the very best and success because it’s the market, right? They’re going to be pulling people into the game of golf…”

Greg Norman has message for Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy
The legendary Aussie also had a message for Woods and McIlroy. 15-time major winner Woods recently banked $10m thanks to the Player Impact Program, and Norman believes LIV is to thank.
Norman added: “I would love to. I would love them to recognise the fact that – like Tiger with his PIP money [Player Impact Program] – that only came because of LIV, right?
“So Tiger benefitted from that. Rory’s definitely benefitted from that. I would love to sit down and talk to them about it, no question about it. Because I’m not a judgmental person and you only learn the facts and truth when you hear the other side of it. But, yes, would I like to sit down with them? Sure, absolutely. And you know what? I’d win the debate.”
Is Greg Norman still working for LIV Golf?
Norman has stepped down from his position at the top of the PIF-funded venture, but he is not leaving LIV Golf altogether.
It’s believed the Aussie will remain as a de facto commissioner, with Scott O’Neil resuming CEO responsibilities. O’Neil, the former CEO of the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers and NHL’s New Jersey Devils, is the business head needed as talks between the PIF and PGA Tour continue.
At the start of November, reports claimed the Saudis were set to acquire an 11% stake in the PGA Tour Enterprises. However, since the bombshell news, little has emerged from either side.
As has been the case throughout much of the saga, golf fans should not read too much into the eye-catching headlines until an official announcement is made.
