Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy’s match against LIV duo Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka will take place at Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas on Tuesday evening.
The Showdown – which will be broadcast on TNT Sports – is the first time some of golf’s biggest names have come together in a one-off match since the PIF-backed venture’s emergence in 2022.
Unsurprisingly, predictions have emerged in the lead-up to the event. Rick Shiels has predicted Rory McIlroy will struggle, and the Englishman’s YouTube colleague, Grant Horvat, has now backed his close friend DeChambeau—along with Koepka—to win.
Grant Horvat drops prediction of LIV vs PGA Tour ‘Showdown’

The LIV Golf League messaged Horvat and Instagram asking for his prediction. “What’s up Grant! Can we get your prediction for who is going to win The Showdown: Brooks/Bryson vs Scottie/Rory?”
Unsurprisingly, Horvat quickly backed his fellow YouTuber.
“I’m going, team Bryson, all day! I think it’s gonna be a super close match.”
Scottie Scheffler is the man to beat in Las Vegas
Considering Scheffler’s recent form and how much better he is than the rest, DeChambeau and Koepka will need to deliver an exceptional performance to overcome the world number one.
Furthermore, if McIlroy contributes, it’s hard to envisage the LIV duo standing much of a chance at Shadow Creek.
The eventual result of the event feels somewhat immaterial, however. With professional golf still very much divided, the LIV vs PGA Tour match feels like a huge power play from the world’s best players.
It’s clear that those on both sides are desperate for a resolution, and the current divide that has engulfed professional golf can’t last much longer.
Hopefully, the Las Vegas Showdown will be the start of a larger-scale reunification as talks between the PIF and the PGA Tour continue.
