If you’re going to move away from the LIV Golf scene and have a crack at making it back on the DP World or PGA Tours, then you better be confident in your ability to do so.

Leaving the riches of the LIV circuit to pursue a career back on one of the 72-hole tours is a big step and so far, we’ve seen few players attempt it.

Yes, we’ve seen the odd crossover as the likes of Laurie Canter have impressed and qualified for events, while Sergio Garcia has made a point of paying his DP World Tour fines in order to get back into the mix for Ryder Cup qualification.

However, we’ve yet to see a player move away from LIV and make it back to the PGA Tour full-time as yet.

But now, that could be about to change thanks to the impressive form of young Spanish golfer, Eugenio Chacarra.

Eugenio Chacarra closing in on PGA Tour return after leaving LIV Golf

Chacarra stepped away from the LIV scene last year and at the time, insisted he wanted to play in the best events in the world, including the majors.

Now, after finishing second on the Asian Swing leg of the DP World Tour, Chacarra has got himself into the PGA Championship next month.

Furthermore, as it stands, he’s also in position to land a full-time PGA Tour card, with Chacarra being one of the players currently in line to qualify for one of the 10 PGA Tour cards on offer for next season.

Why Eugenio Chacarra has been criticised for ‘anchoring’ his putter

After being so outspoken when he left LIV and making suggestions that it was all about money and not top prizes over there, Chacarra is certainly someone who attracts attention.

However, he seems to pick up attention for the wrong reasons as well and more recently, he’s come under fire for his use of the putter.

After winning the Hero Indian Open, Chacarra was slammed for what some perceived to be anchoring of his putter, a technique which has – for years – caused controversy in the game.

With Chacarra now set to tee it up in the PGA Championship, he’ll be under the spotlight of the whole world when it comes to his putting and no doubt the conversation will come up again.
